SEND A KID TO MUSIC CAMP
Our Music Camp provides a wonderful opportunity for both beginners and seasoned musicians alike to come together to learn, to jam, to meet similar-minded folks and most of all, to have an amazing time making music in the boreal forest. Having grown up on the Prairies, we are no strangers to campfire sing-a-longs and kitchen party jams. Fiddle tunes, folk songs, and classic family favourites are passed down from generation to generation. The Northern Lights Society has taken up the challenge to preserve this musical lifestyle and one of the ways we seek to do this is through our Music Camp. It is our belief that through gathering to learn, we will take this traditional, acoustic music, add our own tunes and begin to see a resurgence of people gathering to play. It is also our belief that this must involve our youth.
Last year, with the help of Community Initiatives Funding as a major sponsor, we were able to assist 13 young people in attending Music Camp. THANK YOU!!
**Please note – The Send A Kid To Music Camp program will include a meal plan of lunches only, if you choose the full meal plan you will be required to pay the difference. Funding is based on need and families may be required to contribute a small portion of tuition. All children participating in the program must have a parent or guardian on site at all times.
LET’S GET MORE KIDS TO MUSIC CAMP!
The Northern Lights Bluegrass and Old Tyme Music Camp Fund allows us to subsidize and/or sponsor a few kids to attend. We have been gathering monies for the fund through silver collections at our concerts and dances, through raffles and through generous donations from sponsors and individuals.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO MAKE A DONATION OR SPONSOR A KID,
A Testimonial – Folks! We can’t make this happen for more kids without your help.
My daughter has grown up singing and dancing her way through life. She loves music and has benefited greatly from her experiences at Northern Lights Bluegrass and Old Tyme Music camp each and every time she has attended. The supportive community atmosphere of musicians, and music lovers, of all ages and all skill levels has provided a wealth of cultural experiences that has instilled her with a sense of pride in her rural prairie roots, and developed a skill set for her to participate in that rich cultural tradition. I am so grateful for the support of the Send a Kid to Camp program, which has made it possible for her to have these amazing opportunities. Thank you!
