Andrew Sneddon is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer from Halifax, Nova Scotia.Sneddon is particularly known for his work as a Resophonic Guitarist and as a highly in demand side-man. He has appeared on recordings and in live performances with some of the east coast’s most acclaimed musicians, including; Alan Jeffries, David Myles, Matthew Hornell, Cassie and Maggie MacDonald, Rose Cousins, and Dave Gunning, to name just a few. He is also a founding member of the award winning contemporary bluegrass band The Modern Grass. Andrew Sneddon is a performer not to be missed whether on his own, accompanying singer songwriters, or playing in bands, his musical precision and instrumental prowess excites every audience.
INTERMEDIATE RESOPHONIC GUITAR (DOBRO)
We will break down some of the classic dobro repertoire and look at the techniques used by the masters and how to apply these to other songs. We will discuss how to arrange tunes for the dobro. Andrew will share his thoughts and techniques for backing up singers, from ballads to fast bluegrass songs. We will also look at improvising on the dobro and what tools and techniques are necessary to improvise with fluidity. While focusing mainly on dobro within the realm of Bluegrass music, we will look at some other applications in other genres of music, such as jazz, Celtic,blues, old time, pop and folk. This workshop is mainly for the beginner to intermediate levels, but will have something for everyone including the advanced players.
You have a solid grasp of all the basic techniques for your instrument and may be able to read tablature or music.
